PARIS, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Sixty percent of French citizens said they think Islam is too prominent in their country, a poll indicated.
The poll, conducted Oct. 15-18 by Ifop survey for Le Figaro newspaper further found that 43 percent of the 1,736 adults interviewed said the presence of Muslims in France was a "threat" to national identity, Middle East Online reported.

About 35 percent of respondents said they were indifferent to Islam.
France, which is officially a secular republic, has a population of 65 million, including an estimated 4 million Muslims -- the largest Islamic population in Western Europe.
