The 32-foot whale was discovered on Sidayu Indah beach in Cilacap district of Central Java Thursday, The Jakarta Globe reported.
"Local residents found the dead body of the whale at 10 a.m.," said Iqbalul Murid, a life guard at Sidayu Indah beach.
Iqbalul said the whale carcass had begun to rot. Residents decided to move the body to dry land because of the stench.
"Learning from past experience, the remains will be buried," said Sadiran, a local resident.
