Egypt halts trial on 'Innocence' video

CAIRO, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- An Egyptian court Sunday declared the trial of eight defendants connected to the Internet video "Innocence of Muslims" adjourned until Nov. 25.

The Cairo Criminal Court granted the stay at the request of the plaintiff attorneys to allow the lawyers more time to study the case, the Middle East News Agency said.

The defendants are being tried in absentia and include U.S. pastor Terry Jones and Nakoula Basseley, the accused producer of the anti-Islam video.

"Innocence of Muslims" was made in the United States and posted on the Internet with little notice. But its content infuriated crowds in the Middle East including Cairo where protesters and security forces clashed outside the U.S. Embassy.
