JERUSALEM, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Several masked thieves were able to enter an Israeli military base, overpower a guard, and steal several weapons, officials said.

The incident happened early Friday at the Naftali Base, near the Golani Junction, Ynetnews reported.

The men breached security at the base near its weapons repository, overpowered the soldier guarding it and stole his weapon, as well as the weapons of three other soldiers.

Security forces are searching the area for the suspects, and Israeli military police have started an investigation and suspect the thieves might have had inside help.
