MOSCOW, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- India has approved a $1.5 billion deal to buy 200 supersonic cruise missiles and 10,000 anti-tank missiles from Russia.

The cruise missiles are modified versions of the Russian-Indian BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, while the anti-tank missiles are Russian-made Invars, RIA Novosti reported.

The deal was approved Thursday by India's Cabinet Committee on Security.

The air-launched cruise missiles will be deployed on India's Su-30MKI strike aircraft and will receive their initial test in December.

The initial supply of Invar missiles will be purchased from a Russian manufacturer, but an additional 15,000 will be produced by India's Bharat Technologies.
