Couple charged for leaving son home alone

FOLLONICA, Italy, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- An Italian couple are facing charges after they left their 5-year-old son home alone while they went out to dinner, officials said.

The couple were cited after their son was found wandering the streets of the Tuscan town Follonica around 10 p.m. Wednesday night crying for his mother, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.

Police cited the couple for alleged child abandonment.
