HANOI, Vietnam, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Hundreds of crocodiles escaped from a Vietnamese farm during the weekend and as of Monday, only 72 had been recaptured, official said.

The crocodiles escaped after a fence at Quoc Viet Co., which raises the reptiles for seafood export, collapsed early Friday, Thanh Nien News reported.

The reptiles made their way to a pond on the grounds of an elementary school, which informed authorities.

Quoc Viet promised to catch all the crocodiles and compensate the school after local residents found out about the incident.
