Strauss-Kahn: Sex life was 'out of step'

PARIS, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- The former International Monetary Fund head, Frenchman Dominique Strauss-Kahn, says his sex life was "out of step," but not illegal.

Strauss-Kahn is currently charged for his alleged involvement in a prostitution ring in northern France, The New York Times reported.

The allegations stem from his supposed involvement in the hiring of prostitutes for sex parties at hotels in Lille, Paris and elsewhere.

Speaking with the French magazine Le Point Thursday, Strauss-Kahn acknowledged that his sexual history may have been unusual.

"I long thought that I could lead my life as I wanted," he said. "And that includes free behavior between consenting adults. There are numerous parties that exist like this in Paris, and you would be surprised to encounter certain people. I was naive."

However, "I was too out of step with French society," he added. "I was wrong."

Strauss-Kahn is also facing a civil lawsuit over his alleged sexual assault of New York City hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo.

Both sides in that case have denied that there are financial negotiations under way.

"His travels will eventually bring him to a courthouse in the Bronx, where he will face justice," Kenneth Thompson, the lawyer representing Diallo, said in an interview.
