ANKA, Turkey, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Two days of fighting between Turkish troops and the separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party has resulted in 17 fatalities on the Kurdish side, officials said.

Thirteen insurgents were killed Friday and four more Saturday, RIA Novosti reported.

No casualties were reported for the army.

An estimated 500 alleged Kurdish militants have been killed in army raids in recent months, in military operations against insurgents in the Hakkari Province near the Iraqi border, the Turkish television station NTV reported.
