MANILA, Philippines, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Prosecutors in the Philippines said they will ask a special appeals court to transfer former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo from a medical center to jail.
Lead prosecutor Diosdado Calonge said Arroyo shouldn't receive special treatment, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported Wednesday.
Calonge said he will ask Arroyo's doctors about her "true medical condition," so the court can decide whether she should be sent to jail.
Arroyo and nine other former Philippine officials have been indicted on charges of conspiring to misuse nearly $9 million in public funds.
Arroyo suffers from a number of medical problems including cervical spondylosis, a disorder in which there is abnormal wear on the cartilage and bones of the neck.
