Saudi man gets jail time for Facebook post

DAMMAM, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- A Saudi Arabian court sentenced a man to five years in prison and 600 lashes for making a proposal for sex via Facebook.

The man allegedly admitted, after he was arrested, that he made the proposal on his Facebook account, Gulf News reported Thursday.

In Saudi Arabia, deviant sexual behavior is banned and courts impose sentences of corporal punishment.
