BORDEAUX, France, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Investigators say a 15-year-old British school girl who ran away to France with her math teacher started making her way back to Britain Saturday.
Megan Stammers, 15, and Jeremy Forrest, 30, were found in Bordeaux Friday after disappearing a week earlier, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Stammers was seen boarding a plane Saturday and was set to be reunited with her mother, Danielle Wilson, in the South of France. From there, the mother and daughter will drive back to Britain.
Martin Stammers, 43, her step-father, said: "Danielle and I are so relieved that Megan has been found safe and well and we just can't wait to be reunited with her. Our family are overjoyed."
Forrest, who is married, was arrested on charges of child abduction, and appeared in court Friday night on an extradition warrant.
"He was utterly dejected. He looked sallow and downcast, his eyes blank and lifeless. He looked bedraggled, unshaven and completely dispirited," a witness said.
