Spanish transit workers go on strike

Sept. 28, 2012 at 1:48 PM

MADRID, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Spanish public transit workers went on strike Friday over government plans to slash wages and reduce services, officials said.

The strike has affected commuters across Spain, including Madrid, Euronews reported.

Strikers say the government's plan to reduce what it spends on public transport as it aims to curb its budget deficit will lead to job losses.

Additional job actions are planned for Monday.
