BANGKOK, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- An heir to the Red Bull energy drink fortune has agreed to pay almost $100,000 to the Thai family of a police officer he allegedly killed in a hit and run.

An investigator says relatives of Police Senior. Sgt. Maj. Wichian Klanprasert have accepted the 3 million baht ($96,000) settlement, the Bangkok Post reported.

Vorayuth Yoovidhya, grandson of one of the founders of the Red Bull company, still faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and drunken driving. He allegedly hit Wichian with his Ferrari, killing him, shortly after midnight on Sept. 3.
