Russians protest utility costs

MOSCOW, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Hundreds of people gathered in the streets of Moscow Saturday to protest the rising cost of utilities, officials said.

Utility prices in Russia have been steadily rising for the past 10 years, RIA Novosti reported.

Protesters demanded that charges for water, heat and electricity be halted.

Similar rallies were held in other cities across Russia Saturday.
