LONDON, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Dangerously strong winds and rain are expected throughout most of Britain Saturday, forecasters warn, raising fears of property damage and hazardous travel.
Wind gusts of more than 60 mph are forecast to be accompanied by up to 2 inches of rain, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Localized flooding could cause hazardous road conditions, while the high winds could topple trees and shred roofs, the national weather office said.
Severe weather warnings were issued by the Met Office for London and the surrounding counties, the southern coasts and the southwest of England and Wales.
A flood alert with possible river flooding was issued by the Environment Agency for southwestern regions of Britain.
Saturday is expected to be the last day of relatively nice weather before a low pressure system brings in several days of unsettled weather. Clear skies and sunshine are expected in the northern area.
