MOSCOW, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- A request to ban the film "Innocence of Muslims" in Russia as extremist will be addressed by a Moscow court, the prosecutor's office said Friday.
Following a request by the Prosecutor General's Office, Moscow's Tverskoi District Court will begin considering banning the film, which prompted anti-American protests throughout the Middle East, on Oct. 17, the Russian news agency ITAR-Tass reported Friday.
Identifying the film as extremist material will allow law enforcement officers to ban access to it under a Russian ruling known as the Law on Extremism, the Russian news agency RT said.
