JENIN, Israel, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Palestinian security forces have arrested two men suspected in the death of a security chief in Jenin and the shooting of a lawmaker, an official said.
Jenin Gov. Talal Dweikat said security forces are questioning the men about their alleged involvement in the shootings, Palestinian news service Ma'an reported Monday.
Authorities arrested one man, whose name was not reported, Sept. 5, immediately following the shooting death of Hisham al-Rukh, the deputy director of the Preventative Security Service in Jenin, Ma'an reported. Al-Rukh was shot while driving in a mountainous region near a refugee camp in Jenin.
One or both of the suspects were also implicated in the shooting of Fatah member of parliament, Shami Shami, who was injured July 1 near his home in Jenin.
