STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Swedish police have arrested a man they say paid women in the Philippines to sexually abuse children while he watched on the Internet.

The Swedish news agency TT said the suspect, arrested in May and not identified, met the Filipino women on the Internet and paid them to abuse children in the neighborhood. Sometimes the cash-strapped women would pull the children out of school to meet the man's demands, TT reported.

Investigators said the crime was a first reported in the country, but it has likely happened before.

"This is the first time someone has been revealed in such a case in Sweden but he is probably not the first to do this," investigator Liz Berglund said.
