MELBOURNE, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Australian authorities said they have arrested a 23-year-old man as part of an ongoing investigation into home grown Islamic terrorism.
Victoria Police officers were joined by the Australian Federal Police in a series of raids across the city of Melbourne, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
Among the items seized during the raids were computer equipment, registered firearms, imitation firearms and a USB drive containing violent extremist material.
The unnamed suspect was expected to be charged with collecting or making documents likely to facilitate terrorist acts. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in jail.
A spokesman for Victoria Police said the raids were not the result of any immediate terror threat.
