SEOUL, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- North Korea has accepted the South's flood aid proposal, officials said Monday.
The North's response came a week after South Korea proposed talks on shipping relief goods to North Korea, Yonhap news agency reported.

"The North side informed [us] of its intention to accept flood aid [from the South Korean government] through a Red Cross channel at the Panmunjom truce village this morning," an official said on condition of anonymity.
Hundreds of North Koreans died in recent heavy rain and flooding.
