BERLIN, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Muslim and Jewish organizations in Germany joined ranks this weekend to protest a court ruling calling circumcision an act that caused bodily harm.

Protesters in Berlin said Saturday the ruling issued in Cologne was an attack on their respective religions. "I'm here to stand for the freedom of religious rights," protester Fereshta Ludin told the BBC.

The BBC said German lawmakers were moving to legalize the practice to avoid future conflicts
