Hope fades for man swept over Canada falls

JASPER, Alberta, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Searchers said Saturday they were still looking for a man who apparently fell over a waterfall at Canada's Jasper National Park.

The 25-year-old Alberta man apparently slipped and fell into the rushing water just above Athabasca Falls in the Canadian Rockies Thursday night, park officials told CBC News.

"Our efforts last night were to try and find someone who could have possibly survived; today it's not too likely," said Visitor Safety Manager Steve Blake.

A helicopter and search parties along the base of the falls failed to find the missing man.
