NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- More body parts were found in the Niagara River Friday as police said they had confirmed a torso found earlier was that of a missing U.S. mother of three.
Niagara Regional Police on the Canadian side of the river said part of an arm and leg were recovered near the falls' whirlpool.
Authorities on the U.S. side of the river said the torso pulled from the water last week was that of Loretta Jo Gates, 30, of Niagara Falls, N.Y., the Niagara Falls Review reported.
Gates, whose death has been labeled a homicide, was last seen leaving her mother's home in Niagara Falls Aug. 25.
The woman's family had submitted DNA to be used to identify her remains and the Erie County, N.Y., Central Police Services Forensic laboratory said forensic evidence confirmed the torso belonged to Gates.
