Netanyahu: World should stop Iran nukes

JERUSALEM, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Sunday urged the international community to set a "clear red line" to let Iran know it opposes its nuclear program.

The recent International Atomic Energy Agency report "confirms what I have been saying for a long time -- the international sanctions are making things difficult for the Iranian economy, but are not delaying at all the Iranian nuclear program," Netanyahu said at the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem.

The International Atomic Energy Agency released a report Thursday documenting an increase of 60 percent in Iran's stockpile of medium-enriched uranium, purified to 20 percent. The uranium can be quickly converted to weapons-grade, The Washington Post said.

The report blamed Iran for failing to comply with U.N. resolutions, and said Iran has not provided convincing evidence of the peaceful nature of its nuclear program.

"I think that the truth must be told," Netanyahu said. "The international community is not putting down a clear red line to Iran, and Iran is not seeing international determination to stop its nuclear program."

The prime minister said Iranians will not stop work on their nuclear program without this this determination.

"Iran cannot get a nuclear weapon," he said.
