BEIRUT, Lebanon, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Four people, including two children, were injured by a Syrian artillery shell that exploded in Lebanon Tuesday, officials said.

Lebanese security sources said a house in a farming area in Masharih al-Qaa near the Lebanon-Syria border sustained a direct hit, The Daily Star reported.

The two injured children are 10 and 12, the newspaper said, adding they were taken to a local hospital in east Lebanon for treatment.

In recent weeks, there has been an increase in incidents, including cross-border shelling and exchanges of gunfire, some of them deadly, the newspaper said.
