Three fake cops rob Filipino party guests

QUEZON CITY, Philippines, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Authorities in the Philippines said three men dressed as police officers barged into an 8-year-old's birthday party and robbed the guests.

The incident happened at a home in Quezon City Sunday, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.

Police said one suspect, believed to be in his early 20s, introduced himself to the party host, Arlene Tamayo, as a police officer and said they were looking for an illegal worker recruiter named Marlyn.

Then, two other men entered the house and the three began taking valuables from guests.

The three suspects stole about $319 in cash, a Dell laptop, two digital cameras, four cellphones, a necklace, a wrist watch, a bracelet, and several IDs before fleeing the scene, police said.
