MADRID, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Ryanair passengers in Spain who had a 12-hour delay due to technical problems say they plan to file a lawsuit against the Irish airline.

Flight 3057 from Menorca to Madrid was boarded and preparing to depart Saturday when the pilot decided to abort the takeoff because of a technical problem, a source told ThinkSpain.

The passengers were taken back to the terminal, where they say they waited 12 hours without receiving any official information about the reason for the delay, or when they might be able to leave the Balearic Island airport

Local police and the Spanish Civil Guard were called in to handle to the complaints of disgruntled passengers. The airline was forced to put an official stamp on the passengers' complaint forms to provide legal validity in the face of a potential court case, ThinkSpain said.

Ryanair, which would not comment on the incident, is being investigated for three incidents on July 26 in which the company's planes were forced to make emergency landings because they were low on fuel, the Spanish news Web site reported.
