Afghan-NATO troops carry out airstrike

KABUL, Afghanistan, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- A joint Afghan-NATO force attacked a group of armed insurgents in northeastern Afghanistan with a precision airstrike, killing several of them, officials said.

The operation was carried out in Marawarah district, Kunar province on Saturday, the International Security Assistance Force said.

After the strike, the ISAF said it determined there were no civilian casualties and that no property had been damaged.

On Sunday, an Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected Taliban insurgents in Logar province. Those arrested were suspected of being involved in an attack against an Afghan and coalition forces.
