Austrian pol posts anti-Semitic cartoon

VIENNA, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Austrian Freedom Party head Heinz-Christian Strache posted an anti-Semitic cartoon on his Facebook page that has been likened to Nazi propaganda.

Die Presse reported the cartoon depicted a figure representing the government pouring wine and serving a feast to a figure representing bankers while a small figure at the table has just a bone in front of him. The banker figure had a hooked nose and Stars of David for cuff links, prompting comparisons to World War II Nazi propaganda.

Following online protests, the far-right politician revised the cartoon to remove the cuff links and alter the nose. Strache then blamed the uproar on "political opponents and journalists," saying he did not tolerate anti-Semitism, Die Presse said.
