Gu's husband, Bo, on the fast track to be a Politburo member, was Chongqing's party chief before being ousted in March for alleged disciplinary violations.

At her one-day trial Aug. 9, Gu admitted to killing Heywood, a British businessman, blaming her actions on a mental breakdown. At the time, she said she would accept "any sentence" handed down.

Sentencing is usually delivered along with the verdict in China.

Four Chongqing policemen, convicted of helping Gu cover up Heywood's death, are to be sentenced Monday.
