BAZAR-I-PANJWAYI, Afghanistan, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Security forces arrested a Taliban weapons dealer and detained two suspected insurgents Tuesday in Afghanistan's Kandahar province, military officials said.

The dealer was trying to arrange weapons training for insurgents in the area before an Afghan and coalition security force apprehended him and the two suspected insurgents in the Panjwai district.

The U.S. Department of Defense said in a press release another combined force destroyed more than 4,100 pounds of wet opium and 16 improvised explosive devices in the Now Zad district of the Helmand province.
