TORONTO, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was being treated in a hospital Wednesday for throat and stomach irritation that had aggravated his asthma, his office said.

Mayoral press secretary George Christopolous said in a release that the mayor was comfortable and in good spirits at Humber River Regional Hospital, where he went Tuesday evening after "feeling unwell."

Ford was expected to make a full recovery and was looking forward to going home. His mother and sister visited him at the hospital.
