Forecast: Heat wave for last day of games

LONDON, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- London forecasters predict a mini-heat wave for the Olympics closing ceremony, meaning athletes are not done sweating yet.

Temperatures are expected to peak at 82 degrees Thursday for the last day of the Summer Games with a mere 20 percent chance of rain, capping off a trend of unusual weather throughout.

The Daily Telegraph reported women's marathon runners competed in a "biblical storm" Tuesday.

Thursday's warmer temperatures are due to be followed by downpours Monday.

"It will just be a short interlude of better weather and then back to the typical British summer," said Damian Boyd, Met Office spokesman.
