JAAR, Yemen, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- A suicide bombing in Jaar, Yemen, killed more than 40 people and left a like number wounded, the Yemen Post reported Sunday, citing unnamed sources.
The blast late Saturday targeted a gathering where people were offering condolences for pro-government fighters killed in south Yemen's Abyan province, the newspaper said.
The sources said al-Qaida militants were suspected to be responsible for the attack, in which the bomber set off an explosives belt while a crowd of people expressed condolences to the head of the pro-government fighters. Most of the victims were pro-government fighters, the Post said.
