Student dies in apparent hazing

DASMARINAS CITY, Philippines, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- An apparent fraternity hazing incident in the Philippines killed a freshman law student, the second in five months, police said.

The bruised body of Mark Andrei Marcos, 21, a student at San Beda College, was brought to a hospital in Dasmarinas City, Philippines, Sunday, and pronounced dead Monday, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported Wednesday.

Provincial police director John Bulalacao said an investigation showed Marcos was "allegedly mauled by unidentified suspects" on a nearby farm. The initial police report referred to the case as a "mauling incident" due to the lack of witnesses.

Police are seeking two men, who with two women brought Marcos to the hospital, then disappeared.

The death came five months after another San Beda law student, Marvin Reglos, died in a hazing incident, the newspaper said.
