Swedish woman crushed by paper rolls

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, July 30 (UPI) -- A 26-year-old woman was crushed to death by two rolls of paper at a Swedish mill after she apparently hit the wrong button on a control switch, police said.

The woman, a temporary worker, was moving a 20-ton roll of paper when she found herself caught between that roll and another, reported the Swedish news agency TT over the weekend.

Co-workers tried to revive the woman. Emergency workers declared her dead at the scene.

Police said she may have pushed the wrong button on the remote control for the device that moves the paper, causing one of the rolls to move in the wrong direction.

The mill is located in Iggesund in northern Sweden. It is owned and operated by Holmen Paper.

Police in Gavleborg and the Swedish Work Environment Authority are investigating the accident.

The machine that moved the paper was scheduled to be back in service on Sunday.
