CANMORE, Alberta, July 30 (UPI) -- Two people died in a rock-climbing accident in the Heart Creek Mountain Area near Canmore, Alberta, west of Calgary, officials said.

The bodies of the male and female climbers, said to be in their early 20s, were found in a dry creek bed in a valley following Sunday's accident, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Monday.

A witness reported seeing the climbers fall about 100 meters (about 328 feet) from the rock face, Calgary EMS member Stuart Brideaux said.

Brideaux said the two had the proper helmets and ropes for rock-climbing.
