"Already, we have just buried 14 corpses while two bodies have just been discovered," Alhaji Faruk Umar, spokesman for Jama'atul-Nasril-Islam state, told the News Agency of Nigeria. "But we are also still searching for more bodies because many people are still missing."
Houses built on waterways, blocking the drainage, were blamed at least in part for the flooding. Government officials said they had yet to determine the extent of the disaster.
