Bus plunges off cliff in Nepal

BUTWAL, Nepal, July 23 (UPI) -- At least 15 people died when a bus skidded off the road and plunged over a cliff in the Archakhanchi district in Nepal, officials said.

Officials said at least five other people were injured in the accident Sunday as the bus traveled from Butwal to Sandhikharka, NepalNews.com reported.

Among the dead were bus owner Narayan Prasad Panthi, bus driver Rajendra Chaudhary and assistant driver Padam Chhetri.

At least five persons have been injured in the incident, officials said.

Police were investigating the cause of the accident; however, officials said they initially suspect the bus may have left the road while negotiating a difficult turn.
