Du Chuanwang, 13, was transferred to the intensive care unit at Beijing's Bayi Children's Hospital Thursday after waking up from an eight-day coma, China Daily reported. Du suffered damage to his intestines, liver, kidneys and stomach. He also has an infection causing necrosis in his nose and cheek.
"The pressure inside his abdomen was so high that his legs turned purple," said Ai Qingze, head of the intensive care unit at Xiajin County People's Hospital where Du was first admitted. "The surgeons immediately cut open his abdomen to let the gas out, and found that his small intestines were bleeding very badly."
Police detained two suspects, whose surnames are Zhao and Chen, and are investigating the case further. Zhao and Chen were employees at the car repair shop along with Du. Police said the incident was intended as a prank.
