GAZA, July 11 (UPI) -- Palestinian children attending a Hamas-run summer camp in Gaza are treated to a mock prison camp, military training and religious studies, officials said.
The theme for this year's Hamas-run camp dubbed "The suffering of Palestinian Prisoners" is to show children the suffering of the Palestinian prisoners and the high price to be paid to protect Palestinian land, camp organizer Ahmad Rantisi said.
Aside from the prison children participate in an array of activities ranging from military training and religious studies to learning to walk on boards with protruding rusty nails and knife blades, Ynetnews.com said.
The mock prison is divided into six rooms and contains an interrogation cell, a solitary confinement cell and a regular cell with handcuffed mannequins representing the prisoners, the site said. Other rooms represent the prison hospital and a torture chamber. There is also a small prison courtyard, the site said.
Guides take the children through the narrow hallways of the prison stopping at each cell where they explain the daily routine of prisoners incarcerated in Israel.
