MONTREAL, July 7 (UPI) -- Investigators say an employee who died after being hit by a rollercoaster at a Montreal amusement park may have been a suicide.

The man was struck by a car of "The Vampire" Friday afternoon at La Ronde park, the Montreal Gazette reported. Police Constable Yannick Ouimet told the newspaper suicide is a "big possibility."

Catherine Tremblay, a park spokeswoman, said the 67-year-old man was not supposed to be in the area where he was hit.

"We don't know why the employee went into the locked restricted zone. We have strict procedures that pertain to those zones ... and we're trying to understand why they weren't followed," she said.

Tremblay said the park on Ste.-Helene Island is open but "The Vampire" has been shut down until the investigation is completed.
