CAIRO, June 30 (UPI) -- The liberal Egyptian Web site al-Badil says two of its reporters were assaulted and then arrested by police officers as they covered protests in Cairo in April.
The journalists have a court hearing Sunday, Bikya Masr reported. Islam Abu el-Ezz and Ahmed Ramadan were held for five days after they were detained and were subjected to repeated physical assaults by military police, al-Badil said.

The Web site asked other journalists to join a demonstration Saturday outside the Press Syndicate.
President Mohamed Morsi, who was sworn in Saturday, told editors at a recent meeting he would investigate the charge that the reporters were beaten and arrested illegally.
