Police: Naked woman blocked ambulance

LINYI, China, June 29 (UPI) -- A Chinese woman who struck a mother and daughter with her car and then lay down naked in front of the ambulance could face a murder charge, officials said.

The girl, 4, died the same day, China Daily reported. Her mother was in a coma.

The crash occurred June 17 in Linyi, Shandong province, officials said. Police said Zhang Yan, 36, a teacher at a local medical college, was speeding when she struck the other woman, who was on a bicycle with her daughter.

Videotape made by a witness showed Zhang lying in front of the ambulance and then pulling the girl out, Xinhua, the official government news agency, said.

Zhang was arrested. Her family has asked for an examination of her mental competency.

She had reportedly just had a fight with her husband after learning he had a mistress.

Wang Lewen, the 4-year-old girl's uncle, said he and his family knew Zhang only as someone to nod to in the residential complex.

Last year, a music student was executed for stabbing and killing a woman he had knocked off her bicycle with his car. He admitted the crime, saying he feared she would try to get him to pay her medical expenses.
