Bomber Command Memorial unveiled in London

LONDON, June 28 (UPI) -- Queen Elizabeth unveiled the Bomber Command Memorial in London Thursday to honor the more than 50,000 fallen bombers from World War II.

Thousands of veterans gathered in London's Green Park for the unveiling ceremony, Sky News reported.

Many were touched by the memorial, but some said it took too long for it to happen.

"I am quite disgusted we have had to wait 70 years for it. I think it is terrible," said Bomber Command veteran Dennis Wiltshire.

The ceremony concluded with a poppy drop from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight over the park.
