Mom charged with throwing sons to deaths

DOLGOPRUDNY, Russia, June 26 (UPI) -- A Russian woman accused of throwing her two young sons from a 15th-floor balcony said she did so because she was "fed up with the children," an official said.

An investigator said Galina Ryabkova lured the boys, ages 4 and 7, to the balcony of their apartment in Dolgoprudny, north of Moscow, Sunday afternoon, then threw them over the railing to their deaths in, ITAR-Tass reported.

Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said when questioned, Ryabkova "said she was fed up with the children so she decided to get rid of them," RIA Novosti reported.

The news agency said a law enforcement source said Ryabkova told investigators her sons were now "angels in heaven."

Russian media have suggested she killed the children because she suspected her husband of cheating on her, RIA Novosti said.

A source told the news agency Ryabkova's husband was away on business at the time.

Markin said she had previously attempted suicide. She is to undergo a psychiatric examination.
