Missile shield to protect Deli, Mumbai

MUMBAI, June 24 (UPI) -- India says Deli and Mumbai will be protected by a ballistic missile defense shield that is up for final government approval.

Sources told the Press Trust of India the missile defense system will include a mix of counter-attack missiles that can shoot down incoming enemy missiles within the atmosphere and outside of it, the newspaper said.

The sources said the defense system, which can destroy an incoming ballistic missile with a range of up to about 1,200 miles, would require minimum human intervention.
