The news network said a portion of the roof serves as a parking area for customers.

An Elliot Lake Standard reporter who was at the mall when the roof came down told CTV News shoppers were helping individuals who had suffered minor injuries, such as bruises.

Elliot Lake is a city of 11,300, west of Sudbury.

QMI Agency reported authorities told people being evacuated from the mall to leave the area because of a natural gas leak.
