BOGOTA, June 21 (UPI) -- Marxist revolutionaries opened fire on a bus in southwestern Colombia, killing four people and injuring at least seven others, police said.

The shooting occurred after the bus driver refused to stop at an illegal checkpoint Wednesday set up by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, Colombia Reports said.

A local government official said there is a strong FARC presence in southwestern Narino department where the attack took place.
